Discover the history of Roanoke’s Henry Street and celebrate the neighborhood’s future, as Park Roanoke the Roanoke Arts Commission and partners unveil a mural wall featuring the works of the late David Ramey. The nationally recognized Roanoke artist who captured many aspects of life in Gainsboro prior to urban renewal. Join the celebration, Sunday, April 28, at 2 PM in historic Gainsboro at 60 Centre Avenue, NW, Roanoke, Virginia. Food, music, neighborhood connections, and art activities will follow a short ceremony with several special announcements. Free parking will be available at the Roanoke Higher Education Center parking lot and the Gainsboro Garage Rooftop level. The rain location is the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center. Can’t make the event? Many of Ramey’s works will continue to be on display at the Harrison Museum of African American Culture over the next month.
