Roanoke County General Services just completed an innovative new study aimed at reducing wear on garbage truck arms through data collection. Teaming up with students from Virginia Tech, new sensors and cameras were installed on the fleet, allowing the team to reduce repair costs and down time through data collection. It's one of the first full-scale implementations of this new technology in the nation.
